I am filled with pretentiousness, knowing that I am a guppy. And yes, I realize that most of the paragraphs and sentences in my blog begin with “I”. The thing is, I love to ski, but I’m the weakest skier in the group I ski with. I love to bike, but everybody I introduce to biking soon surpasses me in skill and speed. I like to write, but all the people I want to read it write better than me. So what to do? Just jump in I guess.

I’m a Mormon girl who up and moved to Leipzig, Germany, to get a Master’s in American Studies (I’m specializing in contemporary American Lit). I know, that’s funny, ha ha. I figure I can combine interests (Linguistics, Lit Theory, sociology, literature, etc.), get my German up to par, meet a lot of cool people, and earn a Master’s while paying the astounding tuition of 81 Euros per semester. In case you didn’t get that I was being facetious, that’s 115 dollars. Per semester
