The Mormon Organon

The Mormon Organon
Evolution, Ecology, and Ethics: A Froward BYU Biology Professor Looks at Science and the LDS Faith
The Mormon Organon (named after Aristotle’s book on logic), explores issues in science and religion. It is serious, satirical, and meant to be fun and informative. I am especially going to focus on understanding science, the place of evolution and ecology in the LDS faith.

Commentary On The Book of Mormon, Bible and More

Commentary On The Book of Mormon, Bible and More
The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. It was revealed to the prophet Joseph Smith in these latter days and is a document of scripture of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A man can become closer to God in following its principles than any other book on earth. I invite you to read my commentary on the passages.

Yummy to My Tummy

Yummy to My Tummy
Most of these are recipes that I have personally cooked, either for the dinner group I used to be in or with my wife, Brittany. A couple of them Brittany has made without me. Generally we don’t have a lot of time to spend cooking, so most of these recipes are quick and easy. I am trying to include photos of as many of the recipes as I can, but I am by no means a photographer.

Beehive Archive

Beehive Archive
With all of the history and none of the dust, the Beehive Archive is a fun way to catch up on Utah’s past. Read original scripts from episodes of the Beehive Archive radio show that have aired on KCPW and Utah Public Radio, and discover historical details that couldn’t be included on the radio program.

Beehive Archive is funded by the Utah Humanities Council in partnership with the Mountain West Center for Regional Studies at Utah State University.

Books. Shoes. Music. The Web. What else is there? I am a middle-aged, middle-class writer, reader, wife and mother languishing in the Great American West. I have spent several years lurking online, but I’m ready to join the conversation. I just hope I have something to say. Look for posts on books, American culture, thrift shops, shoes, family, politics, religion and maybe even the occasional rant.

Perfection Pending

Perfection Pending
The command “Be ye perfect” is not idealistic gas. Nor is it a command to do the impossible…If we let Him–for we can prevent Him, if we choose–He will make the feeblest and filthiest of us into a god or goddess…The process will be long and in parts very painful; but that is what we are in for. Nothing less. He meant what He said. – C.S. Lewis, “Beyond Personality”

My Clean Book Reviews

My Clean Book Reviews
It’s fairly easy to find lists of clean books. But what if you want to know if a specific book is clean and you can’t find it on any website? Does that mean the book isn’t clean, or does it just mean that the book hasn’t been reviewed by that site? On this blog we will review everything we read and add a content review to the rating. So if you want to know if a book is clean, we will write what, if anything, the book contains. And if you happen to like reading the other stuff, then you’ll also know which books are right for you.

Other blogs have clean books on their website, but we review everything we read and include a content rating so readers know exactly what to expect from each book.

No Amount Of Success Can Compensate For Failure in the Home

No Amount Of Success Can Compensate For Failure in the Home
I am by no means the perfect parent. But as an LDS Youth Leader and single parent I have found myself in many homes with parent and child(en)counseling them on building and being an LDS based family. Each child and family is different. What we must each remember is whether we are divorced, single, widowed, we are NEVER really single parents. It really does take a village

A Fear of Flying

A Fear of Flying
My Mission: to Restore humankind’s faith in the intelligent blonde, and to horrify as many people as possible with my slight ditzy-ness. My Work: Venting about my random fears of harmless phenomena. Give me homeschooling on a shoestring, vegetarianistic hypocricy, half-sensible political murmuring, and an endless supply of Huggies (size 4) or give me death. My Name: NoSurfGirl.

Leading Families

Leading Families
This is the official blog of Dr. A Lynn Scoresby, and will be updated frequently with my thoughts on child development, families, our education system, and other topics of interest to our day.
